School aged children whose parents reside in Scott Township, Greenfield Township, Mayfield Borough, Jermyn Borough, and Carbondale Township are eligible to enroll at the Lakeland School District. The school district is home to two elementary schools, Lakeland Elementary - Mayfield Campus and Lakeland Elementary - Scott Campus, which serve students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Attendance at district elementary schools are determined by the primary address of the parent/guardian of each student (listed below). All resident students in seventh through twelfth grade attend Lakeland Jr/Sr High School.
Lakeland Elementary - Mayfield Campus: Mayfield Borough, Jermyn Borough, and Carbondale Township.
Lakeland Elementary - Scott Campus: Greenfield Township and Scott Township.
Students must attend the elementary school serving the community in which they reside. Exceptions may be made only under the following conditions:

- A student with an IEP may be transferred when class size so dictates in accordance with law or a special education placement is needed that is not offered at the boundary school.
- At the request of the administration due to class size in the resident school.
- To attend the school at which the resident student's parent is employed.
